Urbanline’s Euro Selekta takes Melbourne apartments to new heights

Located in North Melbourne at the edge of the CBD, the UAG-developed North Apartments offers more than 450 apartments across 20 storeys. In keeping with the building’s chic design, the developers needed an attractive timber-look cladding for the walls and soffits of North Apartments large balconies. But the product also had to stand up to Melbourne’s infamous weather, which swings from 45°C days in summer to driving wind and rain in winter.

Kure Carpentry, who was contracted to Probuild for the fitout of all the External Cladding, purchased the Euro Slekta Cladding thru Britton Timbers – Melbourne. The 2500m2 of Urbanline’s Euro Selekta supplied for this project, offered the perfect balance of style and durability. The Euro Selekta was the obvious choice for this classy inner city high-rise.

Euro Selekta has passed extreme endurance tests in special climate chambers. Subjected to a range of harsh environmental conditions, the product lasted the equivalent of 30 years in temperatures fluctuating between −30°C and +70°C. It is water-and pest-resistant, and is guaranteed not to rot, split, warp or check. Euro Selekta requires no ongoing maintenance, making it perfect for external high-rise applications where access is extremely difficult.

The product boasts a beautiful timber grain-embossed surface and is available in seven non-leaching natural colours, including the stunning Cedar used to enhance North’s balconies. Timber components are sourced from PEFC-certified sustainably managed forests, while the tongue-and-groove profile and machined screen slots make installation quick and easy. Euro Selekta complies with all high-rise building and fire codes, and its high Rw acoustic rating helps block out inner-city noise.
