The hardness and durability of Ironbark means it’s ideal for external applications, including cladding. When installed outdoors, Ironbark cladding can last for decades. It fades to a silvery-grey colour over time, with each board taking on a unique stain and patina as the cladding ages.

Ironbark cladding is the perfect exterior finish for Australian conditions. It offers several major advantages, including:

• Durability – Ironbark cladding carries a Class 1 Durability Rating. This means it can last for decades with regular maintenance, and it’s resistant to moisture, pests, termites and fire.
• Pest and termite resistance – As a dense timber with low moisture content, Ironbark cladding is naturally resistant to termites and other pests when installed above ground.
• Sustainability – Modinex sources our Ironbark cladding from sustainable plantation within Australia.

Aesthetics – Ironbark is a naturally stunning timber with fine grain and beautiful details such as gum veins, tight knots and checking. It’s also available in a variety of colours and finishes to suit any aesthetic.

Ironbark cladding ranges from reddish-grey to light browns or golden honey tones. The cladding often appears slightly grey or red.

Because of its naturally grey undertones, Ironbark cladding is well-suited to natural weathering, which causes it to develop a silver-grey colour over time. This makes it a popular cladding choice for homes and other buildings that need to blend into the Australian landscape.

Ironbark cladding can last for 50+ years when installed outdoors, above ground.

You can extend the life of Ironbark cladding with regular maintenance. Depending on the climate and your cladding finish, this involves applying an oil or protective coating every 2-4 years.
