Sustainability
Our strong partnership with forest owners in Australia, Europe & Canada for over 40 years, ensures a consistent supply of high-quality PEFC™ and FSC™ certified timber. Modinex invests in the replantation of our native forest.
We are committed to manufacturing with zero waste from harvesting through to your completed product. During the harvesting process, all by-products such as sawdust, chips, and bark are sent to pulp and paper manufacturers, to create other sustainable sources products. When moulding profiles, and any by-product is then processed into a fine dust which is then used in organic soils.
With our commitment to achieving Net Zero emission by 2050, we offer a range of cladding and lining solution with an embodied energy as low at 0.5MJ/kg. Our collection of Canadian soft wood species has the lowest embodied energy. Due to their cellular structure, they can be seasoned and stabilised using natural resources without the use of a kiln.
All coatings used at Modinex are ultra-low VOC, taking our responsibility to reduce the concentration of contaminants in the ozone layer.
Natural Timber Characteristics
Modinex products are manufactured from genuine solid timber and should be understood as a natural material, not a synthetic or manufactured finish.
Natural variation in colour, grain, texture, knots, figure, coating absorption and board-to-board appearance is inherent to timber and forms part of its character. These variations are expected and do not constitute a defect where they fall within the nominated grade, product specification and applicable Australian Standards.
As timber is a hygroscopic material, it will naturally respond to environmental conditions. Minor movement, checking, weathering and visual changes may occur over time and should be expected as part of normal in-service performance.
All Modinex timber products are supplied in accordance with the nominated species, profile, grade and relevant Australian Standards unless otherwise agreed in writing.

One of the key features for the Bunker House was raw materials, we wanted off-form concrete and Real Timber as the main feature for this house. So we worked with Modinex Group to source this Western Red Cedar with Cutek Pre-Oiled, which has turned out so good for this project!
