What is Engineered Timber Flooring?

Timber flooring is one of the world’s favourite materials.
It’s warm and inviting, and the use of natural timber is a fantastic way to add wow factor to any space.
Modinex supplies a range of engineered timber flooring in your choice of Australian hardwood or French Oak.
Our engineered timber flooring is designed to the same high standards as the rest of our products.
It’s stunning and hard wearing, making it a functional surface for every residential or commercial space.

What is Engineered Timber Flooring?

Engineered timber flooring is made from layers of timber that are glued together. The top layer is an appearance-grade hardwood, while the substrate is made of plywood.

At Modinex, we use a 10mm-15mm cross-laminate substrate. Each veneer is oriented perpendicular to each other, creating a material that’s light, strong and very stable under heavy foot traffic.

Engineered timber flooring is a great alternative to solid hardwood. It’s generally more affordable, easier to install and more resistant to moisture. This makes it extremely long lasting and ideal for use in residential and commercial designs.

Why Choose Engineered Timber Flooring

We recommend engineered timber flooring for bedrooms, living areas, staircases, offices and other high-traffic zones. Choosing our engineered timber flooring comes with several major benefits:

Greater stability

Improved durability

Reduced maintenance

Sustainability

Australian Engineered Hardwood Flooring

Modinex offers engineered timber flooring in a variety of Australian hardwood species.

Blackbutt offers a contemporary feel, while the natural variation of Spotted Gum has a rich feeling that can add texture and variety to your design.

Both options are supplied in 13.5mm profiles with a 3.5mm wear layer.

French Oak Engineered Hardwood Flooring

Our French Oak engineered flooring comes in dozens of colourways to match your design vision.

Our range allows you to specify a floor for any aesthetic you have in mind.

From dark and moody to light and contemporary, Modinex can supply engineered flooring for your next design.

Our Engineered Flooring Coating Systems

The most critical part when choosing timber flooring is the coating.

The coating is the protective layer between you and the raw timber. It serves as a wear layer, protects against dirt, scratches and moisture, and extends the lifespan of our flooring products.

Modinex’s Australian hardwood flooring comes with 8 coats of Bona Traffic Ultra Matt, allowing the timber’s natural beauty to shine through.

Modinex’s French Oak flooring comes with 7 layers of Treffert Sapphire Matt coating. This 7-layer system consists of matte clear coats for the ultimate wear protection.

Engineered Timber Flooring Accessories

Our engineered hardwood timber flooring is completed with a range of accessories. This includes trims and stair nosing to suit our Australian hardwood and French Oak ranges.

Stair nosing provides a rounded edge that’s finished with a layer of hardwood. That protects it against foot traffic and allows stair treads to blend in with the rest of your floor.

We also provide enclosed treads with a hardwood wear layer on every face, so you can design any staircase you have in mind.

Each of our stair accessories can be supplied with anti-slip inserts if required, and matching stair landings are also available.
